Tire Stencils / Tire Paint – Overview

Tire stencils (vinyl or any other substrate) can be used to place over a rubber tire then sprayed with paint, to create a tire lettering look. Different color paints can be used with the stencil to create different color markings, letters and logos. One of the advantages of using paint, is the readiness of paint supplies and stencil material at your local hardware store. It is also a cheap and cost effective way to brand tire sidewalls since paint and stencil material would only run about $30 for an enthusiast.

The idea of painting the tire has been around since the 1960's, and since then there have been new developments in the way tires can be marked. Paint is known to have a tendency to crack or fade on the tire and can also be difficult to remove, if desired. Using a colored paint pen makes it easier to color in the very fine details within letters or design on the tire sidewall. Paint also comes in many different colors and can be mixed and matched very easily.

Tire Stickers provides an alternative solution, Semi-Permanent Tire Decals®, which can be applied easily to any tire sidewall with the use of heat. This ultimately allows the decal to stay on the tire while in use and is more efficient to apply than paint. Tires are exposed to very harsh environments and a wide range of temperatures that all affect the outer layer of the tire.
